Taxonomic remark Ameira longiremis var. intermedia T. Scott, 1894 which was redescribed by Sars (1907: 221) and placed in his new genus Parameira as P. intermedia (T. Scott, 1894). Wilson (1924) proposed the generic name Sarsameira for the pre-occupied Parameira.
Lang pointed out that T. Scott's species was in reality conspecific with Sarsameira parva (Boeck, 1873) and not with what Sars (1907) had illustrated. For the latter Lang (1948: 851) proposed the new name Sarsameira sarsi Lang, 1948 [details]
