Classification The position of Chaetopteridae within the Polychaeta hierarchy is unclear. In molecular studies it has consistently appeared basal to the Sedentaria and Errantia Annelida groups, while morphologically with both spioniform grooved palps and terebelliform ⁄ sabelliform uncini it appears indicative of placing in Sedentaria.
