Type material The syntypes of S. curilensis, two females (about 16 mm) and four males (up to 17 mm) are in the MSU (Mb-1066–1071). They were collected by the Vityaz from the western Bering Sea, from six stations as follows; stn. 519 [53°04’N 160°05’E], 700–0 m, 15 August 1950 (male); stn. 530 [54°44’N 169°38’E], 500–100 m, 19 August 1950 (female); stn. 535 [56°19’N 174°12’E], 2500–0 m, 22 August 1950 (female); stn. 615 [57°25’N 175°40’E], 600–0 m, 22 September 1950 (juv. male); stn. 618 [57°04’N 168°31’E], 3500–0 m, 25 September 1950 (male) and stn. 956 [55°39’N 164°01’E], 500–200 m, 27 September 1951. A male, probably from stn. 618 (the largest), and the maxilliped from one of the females are illustrated by Vinogradov (1956). [details]
