Nomenclature Huber (2010) treated Chama aculeata Poli, 1795, as a junior homonym of Chama aculeata Ström, 1768, and used Chama elegans Réquien, 1848, as the next available name to designate the species generally called Cardita aculeata (Poli, 1795). However, the name Chama aculeata Ström, 1768, has not been used as valid after 1899, whereas the name Cardita aculeata (Poli, 1795) is in prevailing usage. Under Art. 23.9 of the Code, Huber should not have treated Chama aculeata Poli, 1795, as an invalid junior homonym. [details]
