Etymology Not stated but the specific epithet tasmanius refers to the type locality of the species, the Tasman Sea. There are 722 variants in WoRMS for species-group names based on Tasman (here the name of a sea, whereas Tasmania is the island, and ultimately the name arises from the family name of Dutch navigator Abel Tasman), but almost nobody besides Kirkegaard has used 'tasmanius' (there is also the fish Callorhynchus tasmanius Richardson 1840 but he also followed that name with a species called 'tasmaniensis'). The word 'tasmanius' would be a Latinization of a proper noun (name for a place or person), and thus appears not to be an intended adjective (such as 'tasmaniensis' or 'tasmanianus ' or 'tasmanica' would be). Perhaps Kirkegaard did intend an adjective but 'tasmanius' would not be the obvious construction. As its status and derivation is unclear it is treated as an unchanging Latinized noun in apposition.
