Type material Kelly-Borges & Bergquist (1994: 316) gave a registration number for the dried type specimen as BMNH 1954.12.21.18, but this is not listed in the online BMNH specimen portal. The only material listed there is a dried specimen and slide of the 'Bowerbank' collection collected by J.Y. Johnson at Madeira, which cannot be the type as this is from Vera Cruz, Mexico. [details]
