(2020) discovered that Spongia cancellata sensu Lamarck, 1814, subsequently reassigned to Echinodicyum, was preoccupied by Spongia cancellata Linnaeus, 1767, and Spongia cancellata Sowerby, 1806. Brøndsted's Echinodictyim pulchrum is the first available junior synonym and it is proposed as replacement name for Echinodicyum cancellatum. [details]
