Homonymy This is Suberites hirsutus incertae sedis according to Van Soest (2001). Unfortunately, Topsent (1927) subsequently erected Suberites hirsutus, which is recognizable, but it is a junior homonym of Fleming's species. However, Van Soest (2024: 87) proposed to maintain Topset's name as valid because the status of Fleming's material as a member of genus Suberites is uncertain (based on secondary interperetation of Johnston. 1841: 138).
