Taxonomy The combination A. capensis in Amphictene Savigny, 1822 has existed since the creation of Amphictene, but Amphictene has varied in status over the years since from full genus, to subgenus of Pectinaria, to synonym of Pectinaria. Also, prior to the creation of Pectinaria and Amphictene, Pallas's 'capensis' was placed in other genera with broad early concepts, such as Sabella (by Linnaeus/Gmelin) [details]
