Etymology Greek "Leios' means smooth. There are many genus and species names including 'leio-" Augener states (translated) that Leiochrides is related to the Capitellidae genus Leiochrus Ehlers. The suffix -ides in personal names can mean 'son of' so, perhaps Augener was simply indicating he derived Leiochrides from Leiochrus. Augener named his later species Leiochrides africanus Augener, 1918, thus he treated the name as masculine, which fits with the speculated derivation. At least six Leiochrides names have masculine adjective species-group names so subsequent authors also regarded Leiochrides as masculine. [details]
