Heteropodarke xiamenensis, new species, inhabits coarse sandy sediments of intertidal and shallow subtidal coastal areas near Xiamen, People's Republic of China (Taiwan Strait). It is distinguished from previously known species by its lack of moderately stout falcigerous chaetae and of long serrated spinigers, and by the specific shape of the blades of the stout compound chaetae.
