A new species of dromiid crab, Sphaerodromia brizops sp. nov., is described from the Seychelles Islands, Indian Ocean. The unique feature of this crab is the presence of an enlarged, horizontally divided orbit in which the eye is restricted to the lower chamber. The characters of the genus Sphaerodromia which make it the most primative genus of the Dromiidae are discussed.
