In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde das Eulitoral der Estero-Mangrove-Gebiete El Salvadors hinsichtlich seiner Polychaetenbesiedlung untersucht. Es wurden insgesamt 44 Arten gefunden. 5 sind der Wissenschaft schon bekannt. 35 sind im systematischen Teil der Arbeit neu beschrieben, und 4 Arten konnten nicht genau bestimmt werden. Die einzelnen Arten wurden auf ihre Abhängigkeit von Substrat, Salzgehalt und Wassertemperatur untersucht. Eine Einteilung der Esteros in drei Abschnitte entspricht der Verbreitung der Polychaeten. Die Mangrovewald-Region stellt in Hinsicht auf ihre Besiedlung mit Polychaeten keinen besonderen Lebensraum dar. Sie entspricht dem oberen Eulitoral der freien Wattflächen. Ein Vergleich der Watten El Salvadors mit denen der deutschen Nordseeküste ergab, daß in El Salvador verhältnismäßig wenig sedentäre Arten vorkommen. Zur Biologie der salvadorianischen Arten ließ sich nur wenig aussagen; Beobachtungen der Arten am Ort sind notwendig.
