Type species Gittenberger fixed the type species as "Orcula batumensis [Retowski, 1889], sensu Hesse, 1924". As discussed by Hausdorf [1996, Archiv für Molluskenkunde, 125(1-2): 13], under Art. 11i of the 3rd edition of the Code then in force [currently Art. 11.10], Gittenberger is deemed to have established a new species, Schileykula batumensis Gittenberger, 1983, which under Art. 67.13.1 is the type species of Schileykula.
