The material of polychaetous annelids was collected from the southeastern waters of the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea, 116°11.66'E, 7°18.88'N, depth 328 m, mud. 27July, 1988. A new species is described. The specimen is deposited in the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica.
Tambalagamia sinica sp. nov.
The holotype consists of 15 segments measuring 10mm in length and 4.5 mm in width (including parapodia).
The prostomium is wider than long, and deeply notched between bases of frontal antennae, eyes absent. The proboscis has fleshy papillae on the oral ring: area V has three, area VI has none, and areas VII and VIII have seven papillae. The jaws are yellowish and translucent, with six teeth.
