Materials of two nephtyid genera, Nephtys and Dentinephtys from Japanese waters were examined. Twelve species of Nephtys including two new species, Nephtys neopolybranchia and N. serrata, and one species of Dentinephtys are recognized. Dentinephtys is proposed as a new genus, distinguished by having a pair of pharyngeal trepans.
