Taxonomic remark Nassonov (1926) erected the genus Castradella separate from Castrada, a view followed by many later authors such as Papi (1956), Schwank (1980), and Heitkamp (1982) to name some. Luther (1963), however, considered Castredella as a subgenus of Castrada. This view is followed in most recent literature (Willems et al., 2005; Noreña et al., 2008; Van Steenkiste et al., 2011) and this taxonomy is followed here.  [details]
