Taxonomy Martínez et al (2015: 257) comment that: "Proannelis [sic for Protannelis] meyeri Lam, 1922, described from mud near a coral reef in Java, has been listed as a member of Protodrilidae (Read, 2014) but is here considered a nomen dubium and is excluded from our analyses. The original description is based on a fragmented single specimen preserved in ethanol and seemingly without a head. The description provides detailed information on the musculature and the nephridia, but lacks references to any of the apomorphies of Protodrilidae, including presence of palps with canals, pygidial lobes or lateral organs. We therefore consider the description insufficient for the reidentification of the species." [details]
