From editor or global species database
Editor's comment Sylline Grube 1860 cannot be used as an Exogonin genus because the physical type is the Autolytin Myrianida rubropunctata (Grube, 1860). If necessary a new name must be found for the exogonin taxa authors including San Martin (2005) have created using what they have said is Sylline Claparède, 1864. Claparède did not create a new Sylline genus; that would have been a homonym, and he knew Grube had already used Sylline. Instead he misapplied Grube's name to an exogonin species. The respective entities are illustrated by Grube and by Claparède and are very different. Without commenting on this fundamental nomenclatural and taxonomic difficulty Fukuda et al (2024: 3) report that this division of Exogone into subgenera (including 'Sylline') had been abandoned as a result of molecular analyses.
