Description Dendroid corallum with subcylindrical corallites. Epitheca reaching the cutting calicular edge. Locally some costae visible. Calicular platform weakly depressed. Radial elements compact, free, straight (short), curved, sinuous to bent, unequal. Distal edge beaded and scalloped. Lateral faces wrinkled. Each wrinkle bears parallel rows of fines granules perpendicular to the distal edge. Microstructure unknown. Radial and bilateral symmetry. Endotheca abundant. Columella absent. [details]

[details]Remark Duncan described the type-specimen as a solitary form but Beauvais discovered a second corallite after polishing the lower surface. Two nominal species were attributed to this genus. P. suttonensis (Duncan) initially placed in the genus Thecosmilia was subsequently re-classified in the genera Phacelostylophyllum by Prinz 1991 and Simms et al 2002 and Phacellophyllia by Kiessling et al 2009.
