Classification Phoronis svetlanae differs from Phoronis ijimai in several main taxonomic points. P. svetlanae does not have lophophoral organs and nidamental glands. Although P. svetlanae was first described as drilling phoronid, next detailed studies revealed that this species is not true drilling. P. svetlanae builds organic tubes that are attached to the hard substratum (stones, shells, ect). [details]
