Distribution Canadian Arctic and subarctic, in deep water of the Hudson Strait, 393 m and offshore, Baffin Bay, 1745 m, plus a likely record from offshore Newfoundland in 294 m. [details]
Etymology bathyala derived from the Greek, bathys, for deep, in regard to the deep water occurrences. [details]
