Taxonomic remark Taxonomic status of this species is unclear. Blochmann (1910) notes that the species "was a misidentification, and is the Magasella vercoi, Blochmann n. sp." (now Pirothyris vercoi). The BrachNet page for Pirothyris also notes "Megerlia willemoesi Tate, 1886 (not of Davidson)" as synonym of Pirothyris vercoi. However other authors (Zezina, 2010) record willemoesi as a valid species, moving it into the genus Aldingia, rendering its status uncertain until reassessed. [details]
