Classification Neuhaus (2013, pp. 273, 276): "Bütschli (1876) is cited (e.g., Higgins 1971) to have established the first family name of Kinorhyncha, Echinoderidae, but this is probably based on a misunderstanding of the German language. Bütschli (1876: p. 390 ff.) mentions species of Echinoderes as “die Echinoderen”, which is simply the Germanized plural of the genus’s name. The correct Germanized family name would have been “die Echinoderiden” – which is actually the name used first by Zelinka (1894). Therefore, the latter publication becomes the birth place of the family Echinoderidae." [details]
