Taxonomy Ijima (1927) states that he erected this species in 1904, but in that paper he merely mentions it as Scyphidium sp. (= Rossella sp. sensu Schulze, 1899). Tabachnick (2002) correctly assumed that the name S. chilense is formally erected only in 1927, not 1904. Possibly, there is a unknown 1904 article that we have overlooked so far. [details]
