Taxonomy Cliona fryeri Hancock is of unknown origin, but the substratum is stated to be 'Placuna placenta', which is a bivalve known to occur in Philippine waters. It is likely that P. fryeri is a Philippine sponge, which makes the synonymy with Duch. & Mich. Vioa dissociata less likely. [details]
