Etymology The species is named in honour of Jesus Angel de León-González, of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Nuevo León, Mexico), "who has been working a lot on Eastern Pacific polychaetes in general, and who provided us with the type material for this species" (Salazar-Vallejo & Harris, 2006: 133).
