Etymology Paleanotus chrysos "derived from the Greek meaning ‘gold’ and refers to the distinctive colour of the notochaetal paleae." Chrysos is a masculine Greek noun for gold the metal element, thus the species name is a noun in apposition. Golden referring to the colour would have been 'chrysops' or similar. [details]
