Etymology authors: "The genus name is a combination of the Greek words ‘krasis’, meaning ‘mixture’ or ‘combination’, and ‘schema’, meaning ‘characteristic’ or ‘figure’, in an allusion to the mixed characteristics [that the type species possesses] from the symbiont and free-living forms." The authors do not state the gender of the genus, and it cannot be inferred from the species-group name "thyasiricola", an invariant compound noun in apposition with -cola as a substantival suffix. Craseoschema is assumed to be neuter as the original 'skhema' ( in Greek σχῆμα) is a neuter noun, although in Latin schema is a feminine noun. [details]
