Description Trichomes free-floating, solitary, straight or slightly arcuate, narrowed towards ends, constricted at the cross-walls, with indistinct mucilaginous envelopes. Cells barrel-shaped, ± spherical or hemispherical, with aerotopes, ± isodiametric or sometimes shorter than wide, 4-8 x 8 μm in the trichome centre; apical cells narrowed, end cells slightly elongated, usually 6-8 μm long and conical-rounded. Heterocytes solitary, intercalary, spherical, 8-10.2 μm in diameter. Akinetes widely oval, with thick, colourless exospore, intercalary, solitary, distant from heterocytes, ±21-24 x 10-20 µm. [details]
