Habitat: subtidal silty areas (Sastry, 1995). Also distributed in SE Arabia, Persian Gulf, W India, Pakistan, Maldive area, Ceylon, Bay of Bengal and East Indies (Clark & Rowe, 1971); Lakshadweep (India) in Sastry (1991); India (West Bengal), Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka (Sastry, 1995).
