A study was undertaken to explore the diversity and abundance of reef associated echinoderms at nine different sites of South Andaman, India during August 2009 to December 2010. It revealed the presence of 75 species of echinoderms belonging to 13 orders and 16 families in this region. Among five classes of echinoderms, Holothuroidea (37%) and Asteroidea (24%) showed the maximum percentage of species composition. The species diversity of echinoderms is found higher in Rutland Island (H' 2.31) and Outram Island (H' 2.11) than other study areas. The relative abundance of echinoderms fauna in South Button (7.22%) and North Button Island (7.22%) are low whereas it is high in Rutland Island (17.11%). The present study compiles the report of comparative assessment on diversity and species composition of echinoderms with their habitat in South Andaman.
