Etymology Not stated in the original description. The specific epithet anoculata is composed by the feminine Latin adjective oculata, meaning 'having eyes', preceded by the Greek prefix an-, meaning 'without' or 'lacking', and refers presumably to the absence of eyes in the species: ''Eyes are absent'' (Fauchald, 1972: 49).
