Distribution Pacific Ocean, widespread boreal species. The species is found from the Litke Strait (northern Kamchatka) all along the eastern coast of Kamchatka, off the Commander Islands, all the Kuril Islands, and the southeastern coast of Sakhalin. In the Sea of Japan, it is found off the eastern part of the Krilion Peninsula (southern Sakhalin) where outlets of cold, deep water have been observed. One specimen was collected off Petrov Island (southern Primorye), but the correct labeling of this specimen is questioned. Saito and Okutani reported findings of this species off eastern Hokkaido. According to Clark, the species is found off Atka Island, Aleutian Islands. [details]
