Classification Gelder (1996) has reviewed higher rank names, including family names used for Branchiobdellidae. He placed them at Class-level, using Branchiobdellae Kasprzak, 1984, which consists of one order, Branchiobdellida Holt, 1965a, with five families used by Holt (1986), Branchiobdellidae, Bdellodrilidae, Cambarincolidae, Caridinophilidae, and Xironodrilidae. Almost certainly most of these higher intermediate ranks are superfluous and the group can be treated as one family in the annelids. [details]
