Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorStatus Serpula goreensis is the type species of Dofania Mörch, 1860, based on "Le Dofan" of Adanson (1757: 164, pl. 11, fig. 3). Adanson’s type specimen of Le Dofan seems no longer to be discoverable (Fischer-Piette 1942: 264). As the type figure does not permit specific determination, the generic name is at present unusable. [details]
