Taxonomy Laseron (1957) proposed the genus Haloginella to be used instead of what he considered to be the "obscure and undefined" genus Volvarina, which he regarded as a nomen dubium. Currently the genus Volvarina is held as valid but the placement of the Australian species originally placed in Haloginella requires further study.  [details]
