Neotype: C. Vos 25-4-2011: Dillwyn (1817 2: 585) refers to Chemnitz, 1795, who had introduced the name Buccinum dolium australe seu chinense for this species. (Name unavailable as non-binominal). There currently is no reference as to the whereabouts of the original shell which was used for the drawing in Chemnitz, 1795. Vos (2007:77) designated a neotype from specimens from his collection.
