Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorTaxonomy The diagnosis of Delle Chiaje is very brief and seemingly indeterminable. According to Claparède (1870:66) there is a figure in the plates of Delle Chiaje "Descrizione e Notomia .." monograph, but it is not on the plate (pl.165) he cites. Claparède (1870:66) redescribed it in Nerine and Lumbricus cirratulus as Nerine cirratulus (q.v.) became a widely used name (see e.g, Fauvel, 1927:36), and had several subspecies. Since at least Pettibone (1963) it has been regarded as a synonym of Scolelepis squamata, although Pettibone did not report on specimens of either. It was still as Nerine cirratulus in Hartman's (1959) catalogue. [details]
