Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorEditor's comment regarded to be indeterminable by Hartman (1959); attributed to Vermetus vermicella by Tryon (1886: 256); however, figures by Favanne (1780 pl.6 fig.B; given as synonym by Lamarck) and Chenu (1842 10 pl.2 fig.8) are similar to a cluster of Hydroides tubes. Three samples under S. vermicella in the Museum of Natural History Paris, possibly seen by Lamarck, belong to three different genera. [details]
