Nomenclature Taxonomists in the 19thC often thought it was a good idea to replace the names previously used by others when they did a new combination. Here Blainville unnecessarily replaces Nereis ebranchiata Pallas with Lumbrineris pallasii Blainville. He also replaces his own earlier names in Nereis. [details]

Nomenclature Aguirrezabalaga & Arias (2018: 187 in Parapar et al) state they newly designate the type of Lumbrineris as Lumbrineris pallassii Blainville, 1828, but they have overlooked the prior designation of Pettibone (1963), and that L. pallassii is a superfluous new name of Blainville's for Nereis ebranchiata Pallas. [details]
