Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorGrammatical gender Mexieulepis appears to have been treated (incorrectly) as masculine by its creator, Enrique Rioja, as the type species was named M. elongatus. However, Pettibone (1969) stated Mexieulepis was feminine, presumably because Eulepis was feminine, and indeed the word Lepis (a scale) is a feminine Greek noun. Mexieulepis must be feminine [details]
