The genus diagnosis was amended by Ocaña & Çinar (2018) to accommodate . In this rediagnosis, they ascribe the family to Halcampoididae, rather than Halcampidae without comment.
Diagnosis in Ocaña & Çinar (2018): "Family Halcampoididae [sic] with cuticle covered with small papillae; tentacles with protuberances (swellings); extended diffuse retractor occupying most of mesentery. Incubation of young specimens inside coelenteron possible in some species."

Classification Genus moved to family Halcampoididae after its resurrection in recognition of newly found differences between Halcampidae and Halcampoididae. The classification of this genus within Halcampoididae still has to be confirm after reexamination of type material (see gusmão & Rodríguez, 2021) [details]
