Taxonomy Topsent (1904) proposed this as a replacement name for Raspailia (Syringella) syringella Schmidt, 1868 when he upgraded Schmidt's subgenus to genus, to avoid - as he states himself - a tautonomy (same genus and species name). However, such tautonymic combinations are available according to ICZN article 23.3.7, and thus Topsent's replacement name is unnecessary and is assigned to the synonymy of Raspailia syringella, now considered a Suberites. [details]
