Plumage: above, back light brown, rump purplish blue; deeply forked tail greenish cobalt blue; wing brown with dark purplish blue and black flight feathers and bright blue patch at contrasting with dark wingtips; crown and nape blue-green; below azure blue with breast and throat lilac except in subsp. lorti which has a greenish-blue breast; Immature duller than adult with shorter outer rectrices. Bare parts: iris brown; bill black; feet and legs olive or greenish-yellow. Habitat:coastal creeks; mainly savannah, open woodland and cultivation. Resident. <390><391><393> [details]
