Taxonomy Burton (1959) and Hooper & Wiedenmayer (1994) doubt whether the type locality of Sollas's Ecionemia nigrum is really Cape Verde Islands and suggest that it is a specimen of Ecionemia acervus, thus making Ecionemia nigra a junior synonym of that species. We leave the matter for further study. [details]
