Notes  There is a Spongia friabilis Wartmann & Girtauer, reported by Linnaeus, 1788 from the Bodensee, which could be a senior homonym. [details]

Carter (1849) recorded this species from Bombay, but according to Penney & Racek (1968) his record should be assigned to Eunapius carteri. [details]
