Homonymy Psamathe Johnston, 1836 is valid as Psamathe Rafinesque, 1814 in Isopoda is a nomen nudum fide Holthius (1954) and Nomenclator Zoologicus, and Psamathe Philippi 1840 in Copepoda is junior. However, McIntosh (1908:130) had revived Kefersteinia because of this apparent homonymy. Pleijel (1998:124) discusses this matter. [details]

Authority The *apparent* authority "Johnston, 1836 in McIntosh, 1908" as given in Hartman catalogue p.192 is confusing to readers, but was Hartman's method of recording that she got the information on the genus secondhand from McIntosh. She was aware the author was Johnston. All such 'in' authorships in the Hartman catalogue should be examined carefully before being taken literally. [details]

[details]
