Synonymy: According to Van Aartsen (1977b) it is unclear why Winckworth (1932), Ankel (1936) and McKay & Smith (1979) prefer the name Chrysallida obtusa (Brown, 1827) above the older Turbo interstinctus Montagu, 1803. [details]

Taxonomy: Van Aartsen et al. (2000) disagree with the designation (Warén, 1991: 95, 113 fig. 39C) of a specimen from the Montagu collection as a neotype for Turbo interstinctus J.Adams, 1797, and selected that specimen as neotype of Jaminia obtusa Brown, 1827. If they are followed, Turbo interstinctus J. Adams, 1797 remains a nomen dubium and the valid specific name is obtusa (Brown, 1827) = interstincta as misidentified in Montagu (1803). [details]
