Biology: Type of larval development: planktotrophic, inferred from multispiral protoconch. [details]
Diagnosis: Shell up to 20 mm, with a low spire and ample body whorl usually irregularly developed according to the underlying substrate. Protoconch with 4-4 1/2 whorls, with two granulose cords at the periphery, the subsutural area smooth and shiny. Teleoconch with strong squamose spiral cords, typically alternating one stronger cord with several lesser ones, but the cords tend to become even on the last whorl of large specimens; with interspaces deeply incised and narrower than the cords. Axial folds more conspicuous on the spire, attenuated on the body whorl. Aperture broad, somewhat irregular according th the substrate. Colour dirty white, interior of the aperture with brownish or purplish hue. [details]
Distribution: Eastern Atlantic, in the Ibero-Moroccan area, uncommon in 20-100 m; Josephine and Ampère seamounts, rare in 200-280 m; Mediterranean Sea. [details]
Habitat: Known from seamounts and knolls [details]
